5 Berlin-Based TikTokers you Should be Following

Despite Berlin’s claim to counter-culture, the city did not escape the TikTok invasion. The app has undoubtedly taken over our lives in recent months (thank you coronavirus), but in Berlin it’s much more than sticky dances and endless renditions of WAP. Here’s our list of the top five Berlin-based TikTokers you should follow.

Eric tries it

Kicking off our list is @erictriesit, a great source of culinary knowledge in Berlin. Eric mainly posts restaurant recommendations, but also posts content on the hidden gems of Berlin and the surrounding area. Her extremely calming voice approves of innovative restaurants with aesthetic interiors, although they can be a bit pricey. All of its content is in English, so it is accessible to all expats. Eric specializes in Asian cuisine, making recommendations on everything from Korean barbecue and ramen to bubble tea. An essential account for all gourmets in Berlin.

Food blog

Next up is @gastroblog, an account very similar to Eric’s. The creator of this page posts restaurant recommendations around Berlin, with places that cook unique dishes with special dietary restrictions in mind. She also posts weekend tips on unfamiliar places to visit in the city. Some of his recent finds include a restaurant where you can fish for your own dinner, fancy kebabs, vegan ice cream and cakes. She publishes great looking content in English and German, so there is something for everyone on her page.

Oumi Janta

Third on our list is @oumi_janta, a roller skating queen here in Berlin who blesses us with rhythmic swaggering on wheels. Oumi TikTok’s fascinating jogging, a combination of dancing and roller skating, around Berlin. She shoots her videos in all of our favorite places, such as Tempelhofer Feld or the local Späti, which makes her videos familiar and relatable. She not only shows her own moves on TikTok, but also has demo videos teaching the basics of jam skating; she is also an instructor at the Jam Skate Club here in Berlin.

Stella bossi

@stellabossi mainly posts comedic content focused on the Berlin party scene. You’ll never see her without her sunglasses, platform shoes, and self-defeating German humor. His TikToks never subscribe to the sticky songs that go viral on the app, and instead feature punchy techno tracks that you find yourself Shazam-ing. Its recent content grapples with the effects of the pandemic on the party scene here in Berlin, certainly something to tell for anyone in the mood for a good boogie (just wear a mask please.)

Umut Oezdemir

If you want to learn something new, you should definitely check out our final recommendation, @umut_oezdemir. Couples and the sex therapist post TikToks on the intricacies of sexual health and relationships. Her TikToks cover topics such as various types of orgasms, fetishes, and sexual orientations, all with a serious focus on acceptance, consent, and communication. He’s the only creator on this list to post exclusively in German, but his diction and presentation skills make his videos easy to understand (even for a non-native speaker like me). I can promise you that you will be scrolling through her page for hours – and it won’t be a waste of time.
