5 Highlights of the Berlin Art Week 2020 Not To Miss

To be perfectly honest, the fact that Berlin Art Week is even taking place this year is a highlight in itself. Since the first edition of Berlin Art Week in 2012, we’ve already got used to a few first days of autumn filled with unique contemporary art events – and we’re delighted that this year is no exception, Berlin Art Week taking place from September 9 to 13. Of course, some elements of the festival are very characteristic of 2020, such as the entire digital program as well as hygiene precautions and hourly tickets. But what remains are the inspiring exhibits – in this article you will find our 6 recommendations.

We present the work of Nicola Napoli from the now legendary illustration of the Berghain queue, which has been followed by other unforgettable works such as this performance of Kotti at night. That’s why we couldn’t be more excited about the reopening of Mitte’s 8 Rooms Gallery, which will showcase Nicola Napoli’s work along with 8 other artists, including Franziskus Dornhege, Nuño de la Serna Vicente and Lisa Götze.

The exhibition “K60” at Wilhelm Hallen is organized by seven contemporary galleries based in Berlin: alexander levy, BQ, ChertLüdde, Klemm’s, Kraupa-Tuskany Zeidler, Plan B and PSM. They are joining forces to truly transform the huge space available at Wilhelm Hallen into an immersive exhibition comprised of a variety of visual art forms, including videos and multimedia installations.

The former Neukölln brewery which was transformed a few years ago into a museum of contemporary art is a real hotspot during this edition of Berlin Art Week. On Saturday September 12, they are organizing four exhibition openings, all organized by Kathrin Becker. Exhibits include works by Nik Nowak, Lerato Shadi, and Ann Oren.

Digital art enthusiasts won’t want to miss SUCCESSION at the Reed. SUCCESSION presents the new generation of contemporary digital artists, including Gabriel Massan, Harriet Davey, Jurek Górecki, Julia Parchimowicz (BAD JUJU) and Tabitha Swanson. The exhibition will be presented on one of the world’s longest curved digital LED screens.
