The Last of Us, Wednesday, Outlander… Will your favorite series return for new seasons? Or have they been cancelled? Here is the list of all renewed and canceled series in 2023 on TV and streaming.
In the world of series as in life, all good things must come to an end. In an audiovisual landscape jostled by competition between the traditional network channels (ABC, NBC, Fox…), those of the cable (HBO, AMC, FX…) and for some years the arrival of streaming (Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, etc., which has changed the habits of viewers, the life of the series is also quite disturbed.
In this highly competitive market, renewal and cancellation announcements are both expected and feared. In an ideal world, creators should be able to accompany their series until their scheduled end. This will be the case this year for Stranger Things for example. Care is thus taken to distinguish between a “completed” or “cancelled” series.
But what about the others? The list, which therefore encompasses the different delivery methods, also includes series that were canceled in 2022 but which – like Stranger Things – have ended or will end their cycle this year. Grey’s Anatomy, The Last of Us, Sex Education or even HPI will they return to our screens? Or will they be canceled before they have even been able to complete their narrative arc?
