Marriage at the Bodin’s is broadcast tonight C8! This is an opportunity to ask the question: when will the comedic duo return to the big screen?
In November 2021, Les Bodin’s in Thailand dynamited dark rooms, bringing together 1.64 million spectators in France. This success, the duo formed by Vincent Dubois and Jean-Christian Fraiscinet did not see it coming.
Indeed, the first feature film based on their show, Mariage chez les Bodin’s, had only registered 76,376 admissions in 2008. Note that Les Bodin’s in Thailand is the 3rd film featuring the famous comic duo created in 1994 The second was Amélie au pays des Bodin’s (2010).
This time, the actors have benefited from a larger budget, building on their success in the theater for more than 20 years. Their show, “Les Bodin’s grandeur nature”, was a particular triumph with a tour that brought together 1.5 million spectators.
While Mariage chez les Bodin’s and Amélie au pays des Bodin’s were directed by Eric Le Roch, it was Frédéric Forestier who staged Les Bodin’s in Thailand. The filmmaker is known for having co-directed Asterix at the Olympic Games.
After the success of the film, will Vincent Dubois and Jean-Christian Fraiscinet be back for a new opus in the cinema? Questioned by us in November 2021, the two actors answered unequivocally.
“We want it!”exclaimed Vincent Dubois. “We obviously hope to continue. But we will never let go of the theater. We would like to alternate between the two, that’s what we already do”added Jean-Christian Fraiscinet.
“We have several different themes in mind, such as taking them to a new country. But we have to find a good reason for them to go to this country. We would also like to deal with other themes that are dear to us concerning the rural environment. We are still hesitating. In any case, we have several possibilities, it’s not the ideas that are lacking”he concluded.
In January 2023, the duo gave news of the project in the columns of West France. “We are preparing our next film, which is scheduled for release in the fall of 2024. We will shoot in early 2024”confided Vincent Dubois.
The story, being written, “will start and end in France, and in between there will be a breakaway and some action, because the Bodins will not have been reasonable enough”said Jean-Christian Fraiscinet.
Asked by The voice of the Norththe tandem also indicated that the story will tackle “the problem of dying villages. There will still be exoticism, but we will also find the Bodin’s farm there. We can say that it will be about the Agricultural Show”they said.
Frédéric Forestier, who directed Bodin’s in Thailand, will be back behind the camera.
