Creator and screenwriter of the hit series “Candice Renoir”, Solen Roy Pagenault died on Tuesday, February 7
“The good girls go to heaven, the others, everywhere”. Solen passed away on Tuesday February 7, 2023, in Paris, surrounded by her two daughters and her lover. It is not these simple words written on the Instagram account by his family that we learn of the death of Solen Roy Pagenault; co-creator and screenwriter of the hit series Candice Renoir.
A little earlier, it was the main actress of the series, Cécile Bois, who shared on her own Instagram account a message accompanied by a photo of Solen Roy: “It was yesterday. It is today. It will be forever. I love you Solen Roy”.
Very far from film sets, Solen Roy had started a career as a corporate lawyer. In the early 2000s, she became a reader for the fiction department of France 2, then a screenwriter; collaborating on successful series such as Julie Lescaut, Research Section or Women of the Law.
In 2010, she wrote her first unit for France 3, L’homme sans nom, followed by a mini-series of four episodes the following year, Le lair de la vouivre, which was notably worn by the actors Jean-Marc Barr, Rufus and Lubna Azabal.
2011 was also the year in which his career was put into orbit, with the creation for France 2 of the detective series Candice Renoir, of which she will be the artistic director from season 2. After four seasons, she had decided to devote herself to other projects, such as a fantastic adaptation of Madame Bovary, the contemporary drama they exchanged my child, broadcast on TF1 in 2018. Or, even more recently, as a screenwriter on the first film directed by Alexandra Lamy, Touchées, which rightly evoked domestic violence.
