High credit score required to join

CLEVELAND (WJW) — Lookin’ for love, but also want someone who’s relatively financially secure?

The folks behind the new dating app called Score believe you deserve both in your life, which is why it requires people who sign up to prove they have what’s considered a good credit score — at least 675 or better.

The creators of the app believe, while it can be uncomfortable, more potential lovers need to talk about money.

“We need to take the conversation to areas where finance isn’t traditionally discussed,” co-founder Luke Bailey told TechCrunch. “Before you can educate people, you need to get their attention. With Score, we’re bringing the conversation to dating.”

The idea for the app comes as various studies show money and finances are often a major challenge in relationships.

Those who sign up for the app will not see others’ credit score, and are not going to be paired up based on tier.

For those who see the app as classist, Bailey said he sees the idea of having higher credit as more “aspirational than it is classist.”

“There needs to be more awareness about the doors that can be opened with a good credit history,” he told TechCrunch.
