The long-awaited trailer for “Fast X”, the penultimate installment of the Fast & Furious saga, has just been unveiled! We see Paul Walker, Jason Momoa, Brie Larson and Jason Statham!
Fans have been waiting impatiently for it… The Fast X trailer has finally been unveiled! Directed by Frenchman Louis Leterrier, the penultimate part of the saga that began in 2001 promises to be explosive! On the program: car races (a real homecoming as promised by Vin Diesel), explosive ball, car chases and crazy stunts.
The 3.42 minute promotional video tells us more about the pitch of the feature film. Note that the long trailers are a trademark of the saga. That of the 9th part lasted 3.55 minutes.
Fast X will therefore be directly linked to Justin Lin’s Fast & Furious 5 (2011). We also see in the trailer a scene from the fifth opus.
Interviewed on the occasion of the launch of this trailerLouis Leterrier confides to the microphone of AlloCiné that the robbery of Fast & Furious 5 in Rio is the starting point of Fast X.
Fast V as a starting point
The scene in which Brian (Paul Walker) and Dom (Vin Diesel) rob a safe belonging to crooked businessman Hernan Reyes (played by Joaquim de Almeida) and drag him behind their car has been reshot. identical.
The filmmaker explains:We’ve recreated the chase from Fast & Furious 5 but from the villains’ point of view. For them, Brian and Dom are the thieves. It’s interesting because we used the same cameras as at the time, the same visual effects, we shot in 35mm… We really immersed ourselves in the film of 12 years ago.
Regarding Paul Walker, we used images that had not been used at the time, we did not recreate it digitally.
Contrary to rumours, Paul Walker – who died in a road accident on November 30, 2013 – will therefore not be included in the film via the technique of deepfake. The production preferred to use real images of the actor. A great way to pay him a last tribute.
Jason Momoa as a big bad guy
In the tenth episode, Dom and his family will have to face Dante played by Jason Momoa. The latter is the son of Hernan Reyes. Thirsty for revenge, he is determined to decimate the family by destroying everything Dom has ever cared about, and especially to whom.
In Fast 5, Dom, Brian and their team took down Brazilian drug kingpin Hernan Reyes by hurling his empire off a bridge in Rio De Janeiro. Little did they know that his son had watched helplessly as he had spent the last twelve years hatching the infernal plan that would exact the ultimate price from Dom.
Dante will track Dom and his family to the four corners of the world, from Los Angeles to the catacombs of Rome, from Brazil to London and from Antarctica to Portugal. New alliances will be forged and old enemies will reappear. But everything will change when Dom will understand that Dante’s main target is none other than his son (Leo Abelo Perry).

Jason Momoa
Dante is therefore the new villain of the saga. We also hear him say in the trailer:That’s the problem when you have such a big family, you have to choose who you love.” Dom will therefore have to make a choice…
And this is what Louis Leterrier confirms since he announces: “A war is brewing. There are going to be a lot of losses and alliances are going to be made. The good guys will become the bad guys, the bad guys will become the good guys.”
A recurring fact in the saga since Jason Statham, the villain of Fast & Furious 7, finally went over to the side of the good guys by saving Dom’s son for the first time from the hands of Cipher (in the 8th episode).
The latter, still played by Charlize Theron, is also back. Dom and his family must therefore face 2 villains. The director clarifies on this subject that “One is worse than the other”.

Brie Larson
Brie Larson: a mysterious character
We also see Brie Larson, who, like Momoa, is taking her first steps in the Fast & Furious universe. If his character remains ambiguous, Louis Leterrier confides to us: “Brie Larson portrays Tess. Her character comes at a time when Dom is a bit lost and she’s going to help him. She’s part of the franchise but in an indirect way… She’s very mysterious.”
This long trailer also allows us to glimpse the different actors of the penultimate opus of the saga: Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, John Cena, Alan Ritchson, Rita Moreno , Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron and… Jason Statham.
The return of Jason Statham
Absent from episode 9, the interpreter of Deckard Shaw is back! The latter also finds Louis Leterrier who had directed him in the saga Le Transporteur. On this subject, the filmmaker gives us a little anecdote which links his first production to Fast & Furious.
“I received a call to tell me that I had been chosen to direct Fast X and 4 days later I was in London on set. But at first I was afraid of the magnitude. It’s a beloved franchise that defined my career.
When I released The Transporter with Jason Statham, we went to see one of the Fast & Furious films at the cinema on the Champs Elysées. And we said to ourselves that it was incredible and that we had to do something like that. And years later, we’re working together again on Fast X.
He adds : “It’s incredible. It’s a founding saga. It’s been 20 years that the spectators evolve with the characters. So it’s scary… But under the impulse of my wife, I accepted. Everyone m treated like a member of the family and after the second take it was my film. I was very well surrounded.”

As Vin Diesel had promised his fans, all the stars of the franchise are therefore reunited for a grand finale.
Accustomed to filming large productions, since we owe him in particular The Transporter 1 & 2, The Incredible Hulk or Elusive, Louis Leterrier explains to us that he understands the weight that weighs on the shoulders of the actors and takes their opinion into consideration.
“These people cannot walk quietly down the street. But at the same time, they love their job, it’s their whole life. I love listening to these actors, and their ideas. Especially on this series.
The original actors have been working on these films for over 20 years. So I take their advice into account. Vin Diesel is different, because he is a producer. We both got on very well right away. We talked a lot about the turn of the scenes… Even today we talk to each other very often.”

Universal
Charlize Theron
“I’ve never seen two actresses fight like that.”
He adds : “One of the scenes that impressed me the most, and which we see briefly in the trailer, is the fight between Charlize Theron et Michelle Rodriguez.
I’ve never seen two actresses fight like that. It’s very technical. Everyone is very perfectionist and we redid the scene several times. They are very professional. It is very impressive.”
When asked if he will shoot the 11th and final episode, Louis Leterrier remains unclear: “We started thinking about what’s going to happen. But I’ve got so much work on this movie that I haven’t even talked to Universal about it so we’ll see..”
Fast X is due out in theaters on May 17.
