Google entered the mobile market a little late compared to many other brands like Apple and Samsung, but it is doing quite well, especially with its mid-range and flagship phones. While the latest Google Pixel 8 lineup has already arrived, the previous generation is still good, and if you want a budget mid-range phone, the Google Pixel 7a is a great option. Even better, while it normally goes for $499, Amazon has discounted it to just $375, saving you a nice $175.
Why should you buy the Google Pixel 7a?
There are a lot of great things about the Google Pixel 7a, and there are also some minor shortcomings. For starters, it has a brilliant 6.1-inch OLED screen that runs at a 1080 x 2400 resolution, giving you some of the best color reproduction and image quality; Plus, it runs at 90Hz, which gives you a better overall experience. Underneath the screen is a Tensor G2 chip, which is a generation behind the latest G3, but the same chip you’ll find in the Pixel 7 Pro, so you still get some excellent overall performance. That said, it does get a little warm with prolonged use, so that’s definitely something to keep in mind.
In terms of cameras, the Pixel 7a has surprisingly good cameras, with a 64MP main camera and a 13MP ultrawide sensor, although the sensors aren’t as large as the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, so night-time photos don’t come out to the same quality. Happen. As far as battery life goes, this is the Pixel 7a’s biggest weakness; With a 4,385mAh battery, it’ll last a day or two even with heavy use, so expect to charge the phone at least once or twice a day. The good thing is that it has 7.5W wireless charging, so if you have a wireless charger and regularly practice setting your phone on it, you should be fine.
While it may be difficult to sell the Google Pixel 7a at its full price, the $375 discounted price from Amazon makes it a more attractive mid-range phone. On the other hand, if you’re still not convinced, it’s worth taking a look at some of these other great phone deals too.
