After several weeks of suspense, it seems that Salto is about to close its doors. It is no longer possible to subscribe to the streaming service since Monday morning.
It seems Salto’s end is getting closer and closer. After having stopped, on February 1, to put online the episodes of Tomorrow belongs to us and Here everything begins in preview, it is now impossible, since this Monday, February 13, to subscribe to the streaming platform made- in France co-created by France Télévisions, TF1 and M6.
“Unfortunately, it is no longer possible to subscribe to Salto. Thank you to all Salto subscribers for sharing with us their desire and enthusiasm for a Made in France streaming platform” is thus written on the home page of the site since this morning.
It has now been several weeks, even months, that Salto’s fate has been uncertain. Last January, our colleagues from Puremedia revealed that the three historic shareholders of Salto were seeking to disengage from the platform. They then searched in vain for a buyer.
the informed had thus revealed that Agile, a Spanish company, was a candidate for the takeover. But the company being too small for such a project, France Télévisions had finally decided not to entrust its programs to it.
If for the moment, neither the management of Salto, nor its shareholders have wished to speak, it would seem that the most likely step is a liquidation of the platform and then a resale of its assets.
One thing is certain, the shutdown of the streaming service is now more than imminent. However, subscribers can still access the platform to view the programs still available.
