American actor Don Cheadle, incarnation of War Machine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, expressed some regrets about his character. But the superhero will soon be entitled to his spin-off…
Since 2010 and Iron Man 2, actor Don Cheadle has been the big-screen incarnation of Colonel James Rhodes, aka War Machine, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A character not sufficiently exploited according to the 58-year-old American.
“There is nothing that has really been explored in War Machine”thus regretted Don Cheadle last month in an interview with the Guardian. “Who are his friends? What are his connections? What does he want? I’m not complaining, but I don’t think anyone knows anything about him yet.”
Will the secrets of War Machine, played by Terrence Howard in the first Iron Man, be buried forever? Probably not, since a film centered on Tony Stark’s accomplice, entitled Armor Wars, will be released in 2024, and the superhero will also be part of the Secret Invasion series, scheduled for this year.
We will therefore soon know more about this character who has always remained in the shadow of the main Marvel heroes, but do not count too much on Don Cheadle to reveal anything. “We will discover his favorite flavor of ice cream, what are his little quirks”, slips the actor mischievously. We don’t have to believe in such futile revelations…
