For those who rely on YouTube and YouTube TV for their NFL games, bad news – there’s some definite lag happening today. So bad and so obvious that there is a message at the top of the YouTube TV help pages.
The message reads: “If you’re experiencing buffering issues on YouTube, our team is aware and working on a fix. “YouTube TV or NFL Sunday Ticket could also be impacted.”
On the end user side of things, you may notice excessive loading times. We are also seeing a drop in resolution and/or frame rate. Sometimes it’s one or the other. Sometimes it’s both. (We’re also unable to watch YouTube TV on the Nest Hub Max, despite its price.)
Lagging your NFL games is never a good thing, but it’s especially bad because YouTube TV is the largest live streaming service in the United States, with over 5 million subscribers at last count — and Google says that. It’s still growing, thanks to NFL Sunday Ticket and the move to YouTube is justified.
And perhaps things are getting worse than any of us can do except wait.
So at this point, you have a few options. One is to transfer to an over-the-air antenna, which theoretically should not be affected. (Unless the problem is with the source broadcast.) Or you can switch to the YouTube TV option for a while and hope its free trial works for you over the weekend.
Or you can just go to your friendly neighborhood sports bar, a friend’s house, or just go outside and enjoy the sunshine.
