Pierre Niney: this blockbuster that will make him an international star – Actus Ciné

After the diptych “The Three Musketeers” by Martin Bourboulon, Pathé will produce “The Count of Monte-Cristo” by the “First Name” duo, Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière. We now know who will hold the title role.

Two days ago, Pierre Niney promised to announce soon “one of the most exciting projects” of his life. We now know what it’s all about!

The French actor will play the Count of Monte-Cristo in the new film adaptation of the novel by Alexandre Dumas. The famous work has already been adapted around thirty times for cinema and television.

In the press release, the French comedian says: “Like millions of readers around the world, I was marked and transported by the great novel that is Monte-Cristo. The ambition and the strength of the project oblige us as much as they inspire us. We want to create a great film of adventure, of characters but above all… of revenge.”

Written and directed by the duo behind “Le Prénom”, Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière, the feature film is currently in preparation. Filming will take place between July and December 2023 in France.

The duo of filmmakers promise us an Edmond Dantès like we have never seen him: “The Count of Monte-Cristo is one of the greatest stories ever told. A real myth that allows us to cross several genres of cinema: adventure, thriller, against the backdrop of a very great love story. Our film will follow the point of view of Edmond Dantès, the first French superhero, who goes from light to shadow, and becomes the incarnation of the masked avenger. We are lucky to work with an extraordinary team, and to have alongside us Pierre Niney, who will be a Monte-Cristo like you’ve never seen before.”

As with the diptych The Three Musketeers, Pathé and Chapter 2 are joining forces to co-produce this fresco of adventure scheduled for release on October 23, 2024. Like The Three Musketeers, The Count of Monte-Cristo should then continue his career internationally.
