With all the Black Friday deals and Cyber Monday deals we’re covering this week, it’s something that almost everyone with a gaming PC is thinking about. This is the Steam Autumn Sale, where you’ll definitely find good deals on the games on your wish list. While most of the coverage of this event will highlight deals on the best games of 2023, I’d like to highlight a few games I picked up for under $5 that you might have otherwise missed. They’re the type of games I’m actually curious about, not just big titles that draw clicks, and I think you might want to try them out too, while they’re under $5. The Steam Autumn Sale will run until November 28th at 10am Pacific Time.
Synthetic Ultimate – $4, which is $20
Synthetic Ultimate is a game I probably never would have purchased at full price. It’s a very arcadey top-down shooter experience and I’ll fully admit that I’m not always 100% sure why things are happening on my screen. I’m sure it’s exciting and, even within the first hour, I’m getting some of the most interesting third-person gunplay I’ve seen in a shooter. For example, the character I am playing above is a sniper. To fire effectively, I have to stop moving for a second and then click directly on my enemy. Heck, when I reload my gun – or any gun in the game, I have a chance for the gun to jam. This means I always have to have a backup plan ready. The game, which is now just $4, is worth it for the little disruption in your life.
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Liar – $3, $30
My motivation for picking up this game was based on one part nostalgia and one part rumor. If you haven’t heard, the Yooka-Laylee games are created by the designers of the now famous Banjo-Kazooie Collect ‘Em Up games. And they feel alike, from the quirky animal heroes to the raspy voices. In impossible lair, Yuka and Laylee’s second adventure, the pair travel through a war-torn bee kingdom. The rumor mechanic I’m most excited about is how events and activities happen in the overworld want Game levels. And, many of my Quick (In the screenshot above I’m hanging out just outside the first level) From this vantage point, the overworld looks full of fun adventures. For only $3, I’m looking forward to checking it out thoroughly.

I can buy more Steam Autumn Sale games for less than $5
With the Steam Autumn Sale ending on November 28th at 10am Pacific Time, I still have more time to come back and buy more stuff. If I do this, there are now enough games on my wish list for less than $5 that I can avoid paying more. Here are some you might also like:
