The Black Universe of Esther Perbandt – An Interview with the Iconic Berlin Fashion Designer

One of the highlights for me this year was seeing our good friend Esther Perbandt, the iconic Berlin fashion designer, pass Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn’s new Making the Cut designer competition. It was the first time for me to see someone I knew personally on a hit TV show and it was so exciting to follow her through the lens of American reality TV.

Those of you who have followed us for a long time will know that Esther is very closely linked to us as we hosted one of her first shows with our sister project Designer Scouts in 2010 and co-hosted the two evenings of after show of her spectacular Volksbühne fashion shows in 2014 and 2017. She also organized one of our city guides to show us her favorite places in Berlin. It’s always so amazing for us to be a part of her black avant-garde universe and we feel so proud of all of her accomplishments as a designer over all these years.

Naturally, we wanted to talk with her about her experience on this show this year and all the fantastic things that have happened since. We’ve actually met her twice, once at her showroom this summer, where she showed off her new collection, and once for an interview at her Mitte store. Today we want to share with you the video that marks our 10th anniversary of working with this incredible woman. We look forward to many years orbiting its dark universe!
