It’s time for our annual guide to the new cafes for breakfast and brunch in Berlin! It was 2 years of madness and it was quite a challenge for the Berlin gastronomic scene which had to close its places during several confinements. But nonetheless, there are brave entrepreneurs who have decided to open their places despite the global pandemic. Hat !
In our new guide, we’ve included a variety of places we’ve discovered all over town that offer a delicious slice of breakfast and contemporary brunch dishes that will make your mouth water and stomach water. will rejoice in advance. Now without further ado, here are the locations we have selected for you.
Sorrel
We start our list in Neukölln at what I like to call the ‘creative breakfast’ type of place. If you scroll through their Instagram feed, you’ll see that this isn’t about ordinary food, but a really creative approach to brunch and breakfast – or lunch if you prefer. As their menu changes quite regularly depending on the season and what’s available locally, we won’t go into detail here, but what we were able to try in the summer was quite delicious and we are confident their great taste goes through. all seasons. .

44 Breakfast
This new Australian-style brunch on Rykestraße, right across from the neighborhood staple, Allan’s Breakfast Club, has made a name for itself during the various lockouts with their super delicious egg sandwiches to go. There are various toppings to choose from such as avocado, bacon and ham – but whatever you choose, its basic ingredients of delicious brioche bread, fluffy scrambled eggs and a savory sauce will never let you down. . They have a few other dishes that are brunch classics such as sourdough avocado which I really recommend.

Frank coffee
Unrelated to myself, this cafe is the little brother of the Kink Bar and Restaurant on Pfefferberg and it serves coffee, pastries and lunch on weekdays and brunch on weekends from 11am. They offer classics such as French toast and egg dishes, but also savory options with meat. Eating surrounded by the beautiful interior full of plants or outside on the beautiful terrace makes this place very special.

Open: every day from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Brunch only Sat-Sun from 11 a.m.)

Green chaffinch
Another option in Prenzlauer Berg, but now in Bötzowviertel, is the vegan Green Finch brunch cafe. They do magic with their vegan pancakes and breakfast bowls filled with healthy ingredients. It’s a rare thing that breakfast places consider modern healthy diets like dairy free or low in carbs, so this is the place to be for those of you who just don’t want to gorging on white flour and sugar.

Frühstück 3000
Not to be confused with the Ficken 3000 nightclub and bar, this place is the glamorous breakfast option on our list. I really waited for a place like this to celebrate brunch in the fanciest way possible. The place on Bülowstraße has an interior of triumphant beauty and their clever breakfast dishes are equally exquisite. I was delighted to see egg dishes accompanied by wild broccoli and French toast with a meringue filling. It’s the perfect place for special occasions!

Open: everyday 8 am-4pm

The pink
The last one on our list is quite curious: the little place deep in West Berlin is probably the most feminine place we have ever seen. Everything is pink topped with a golden shimmer. Much like the audience we met on our first visit, they were young and feminine. The menu offers different varieties of pancakes, French toast and egg dishes. We love the variety here, you can go classic or you can go crazy with a lot of toppings. The same goes for their specialty coffee drinks which are topped with caramelized popcorn or colorful syrups – if you like. If a girly sugar-coated brunch is your vibe, this is your place!

Honorable mentions to three places we failed to visit for brunch at the time of posting: Terz in Neukölln offers a more exclusive and original type of brunch on weekends, Avocado Club is a former Friedrichshain joint which recently reopened in Mitte with an all avocado menu and Tucker is an Australian-style breakfast spot in Friedrichshain that sometimes hosts drag shows for brunch as well.
