“The Walking Dead” spin-off titled “Dead City,” centering on Negan and Maggie, will take place several years after the plot of the original series’ final episode, which aired last November.
Barely a few weeks after the broadcast of its final episode, The Walking Dead is already talking about it. No, the horror series will not return for a twelfth season, but its history will continue well in the form of several spin-offs, centered on some of its most emblematic characters: Daryl Dixon, Rick & Michonne, or even Negan and Maggie.
The latter, yet sworn enemies because of their past (as a reminder: Negan shot Glenn in front of his wife with a baseball bat), will indeed form an unlikely duo in a series called Dead City (previously titled Isle of the Dead), whose action will take place on the devastated island of Manhattan following the invasion of the living dead.
While the first images of the project have recently been unveiled, we also know that Dead City will be available from this spring of 2023 on the American platform AMC +; however, we do not know the future French broadcaster of the program.
A turbulent past and new dangers
New information reaches us today on the series, on the occasion of the publication of an official synopsis. The opportunity to learn in particular that Dead City will not be the direct sequel to the finale of The Walking Dead, since its story will take place “several years later”. Here is the full synopsis:
“Years have passed since Maggie and Negan were last seen, and their alliance formed to accomplish a dangerous mission. Maggie and Negan travel to Manhattan Island, which has been locked down since the beginning of the zombie apocalypse, thus developing its own set of threats. On the spot, Maggie and Negan will meet New York inhabitants, rescue a marshall with a troubled past, and track down a famous serial killer. But while the duo will sink into the bowels of the city infested with walkers, it will gradually become apparent that the traumas of their tumultuous past will prove to be as perilous as the new dangers drawn up on their path.
The spin-off series The Walking Dead: Dead City will be broadcast in 2023 in the United States, and at a possibly later date in France.
