As petrol prices continue to soar sky-high, people are yearning for electric vehicles and campers. The ideal choice seems to be Tesla Cybertruck; although Musk and his mates are yet to officially launch one in the market. Despite the long wait, multiple manufacturers have already started teasing their camping modules that can be attached to Cybertruck and add fun to your adventure gig. However, the ultimate opportunist of this Tesla delay might be Californian electric car startup Aptera, which is offering a solar charging vehicle that also incorporates a camping tent.
Aptera ‘done and dusted’ was the leading headline in every newspaper and magazine covering the automotive industry in 2011. A decade later, the Californian startup is back and so is the passion, grit and determination of the people working on the project to deliver a three-wheeled electric vehicle powered by the sun. The glossy design of the vehicle might garner a lot of attention but the biggest takeaway of the solar-powered vehicle is the camping configuration which you can spot in the pictures.
Back in 2021, Aptera commented, “We look forward to eventually offering a hitch option for our vehicles.” There are no words on the statement since then, but now the company offers a tent that can easily be attached to the tailgate of the vehicle. The camping configuration successfully turns the trunk space into a covered tent for two people.
Made using carbon, glass, and Kevlar fibers, the base model of Aptera is 177 inches long, 88 inches wide and 57 inches in height. The solar powered vehicle can also be charged like a regular electric vehicle. It offers 250 miles of battery range with 16 miles per day from solar charging.

Aptera doesn’t like calling their vehicle a car rather insist on branding it as a three-wheel motorcycle or auto-cycle powered by the sun. It is a lightweight and aerodynamic vehicle that harnesses the power of the sun to make off-the-grid life a reality. The pricing starts at $25,900 and can be reserved via the company’s website.
